February Market Report

February 14, 2014 at 5:17 AM

Hi all, Welcome to February's Market Report from Interfruit. OK, here goes:

Potatoes - We've new English potatoes are very good and tasty at the moment so worth a look.

Rhubarb - We're pleased to see forced English Rhubarb start again. This is really tasty at the moment.

Our Recommendations usually cover a range of our products and this month is no different.  Tender stem Broccoli has become increasingly popular and worth a try. The Fennel is superb great for light salads or good old hearty stew.

The Purple Sprouting broccoli is plentiful and great tasting.  Jerusalem and Globe Artichokes are available with their uniquely delicious slightly sweet taste are something a bit different! Candid and Golden beetroot are both ready available in fantastic vibrant colours, great for beetroot salad!  Beans, Mange Tout and sugar Snaps are all still very good and we've got good stock.

English Little Gems are very good. Tomatoes and Peppers are all imported but good quality.
What’s in and out of Season with Fruit & Imported:

  • Good selections of berries are available
  • Spanish Broccoli is in season at the moment and very good
  • French Cauliflower is still very good
  • English pears, Cox’s and Braeburn are delightful and tasty
  • Still plenty of Clementine’s available
  • Honeydew Melon slightly firm but delicious
  • Cantaloupe Melon are juicy and succulent
  • Water melons are in short supply and proving to be very expensive at the moment
